About us

My name is Tim McEvitt, and this website is about sharing kirtan music. We are based in County Fermanagh. I used to live in an ashram for 10 years. Now I'm married and self-employed. With Kirtan.ie we are simply sharing kirtan, and the tranquillity that comes from hearing meditative music.  Kirtan is for Everyone. It doesn't matter if you can sing well, or not. It doesn't matter if you assign yourself to any particular religion, or none at all.  You are welcome to join in and take part!

This is a photo of me in 1996. I look older now! Ancient texts written in the Sanskrit language describe that we look for a permanent situation in this material world, but it's not there. Our own body, and the bodies of our loved ones, are constantly in flux. With kirtan music - through sacred sound - we get a taste of a world where things do not change: the eternal.

Here are a few friends and myself (Tim) singing around a camp-fire.

Sundara Nitai

Sundar is originally from Dublin. During his time as a student monk from 2005 until 2017 he travelled around the world sharing dynamic kirtan with many thousands of people. He can sing to, entertain and educate any group, whether 5 or 5000 people in a cheerful and joyful way.

Tim McEvitt

Tim likes kirtan, forests and good food. He's self-employed hosting spiritual retreats. This photo was taken in a recording studio. One of the retreat guests invited him to go along and get recorded singing at their family's studio. Thank you Claire.  That's not paint on his nose: it's Vaishnava tilak... a symbol of somone aspiring to connect with Vedic ancient traditions.
